A father and daughter were saying their farewells at an airport, possibly for the last time. She lived far away and the father was old and in failing health. As she kissed him, the woman said “I wish you enough”.
His companion overhead and later asked him what it meant. The man explained that it was a wish handed down in his family for generations. “When we wished that for someone,” he said, “ we were wishing the other person a life filled with enough good things to sustain them”. He continued with the rest of the saying.
“I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirits alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys appear much bigger.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough “Hello’s to get through the final “Goodbye”.
